What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is also often referred to as a newsfeed. What these RSS newsfeeds provide is a quick and easy way to stay up to date with your favourite websites' news headlines, with RSS however, you don't even have to visit the site, the news comes to you.

Many sites provide an RSS newsfeed of their content and latest news, and more are following suit as RSS become more widespread.

How Do I Use An RSS Newsfeed?

In order to read an RSS newsfeed, you will need to install an application that supports RSS. You can download an RSS news reader, but many modern browsers and e-mail applications support RSS, including: Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 (Mac and PC), Safari 3 (Mac and PC), OS X Mail and Microsoft Outlook 2007 for Windows.

How Do I Subscribe To An RSS Newsfeed?

The procedure for subscribing to a newsfeed will vary slightly depending on which news reader you are using. However, most display an RSS logo, such as or , that should be clicked to access the newsfeed, a further action is then required to subscribe to the feed (often a subscribe button or link needs to be clicked).
