The Colliers 'Family Cycle Trail'

10 Miles long, set along historic railway lines, this is one of the best ways to explore the forest. A circular route taking in the breathtaking Forest of Dean. A route for the whole family on specially surfaced pathways taking approx. 1-1½ hours.

Mountain Biking

For keen mountain bikers the downhill Forest tracks provide wild opportunities with an excellent dedicated off-road area starting from Pedalabikeaway Cycle Centre.

Bike Security

We would advise all guests to take extra precautions when securing your bikes whilst onsite and in the local area and recommend the use of a five star D-lock when securing your bike. We ask all guests to always secure their bikes when not in use and would also recommend all bikes are registered on the national cycle database.

Unfortunately, bicycle thefts do occasionally occur within the local area, including incidents reported across the Forest of Dean. Whilst the vast majority of cyclists enjoy their visit without any issues, we feel it is important to make guests aware that there have also been a small number of bicycle thefts reported at Whitemead Forest Park itself and also at similar establishments in the area. While these incidents remain relatively uncommon compared to the large number of cyclists who visit the area each year, they do happen, and in some cases even high-quality locks have been targeted by determined thieves.

Whilst we take reasonable measures to help deter theft and support our guests, we are unable to guarantee the security of bicycles brought onto site. For this reason, we encourage guests to carefully consider whether they wish to bring their own bikes, particularly if they are high-value models.

If you do decide to bring your bicycles, we strongly recommend:

Using high-quality security locks.
Keeping bikes secured whenever they are unattended.
Ensuring your bicycles are covered by appropriate insurance.
Avoiding leaving bikes unattended on vehicles or trailers for extended periods.
Ensuring bikes as well as other belongings are put away at the end of the night.

Many guests also choose to take advantage of the excellent bike hire facilities available locally, allowing them to enjoy the Forest’s trails without bringing their own equipment.
