Gravel Tent / Campervan pitch, measuring a maximum of 8m x 8m with 16amp electrical hook-up. Suitable for a single tent only up to a maximum of 6 x 4 metres (including porch / awnings) or a campervan with standard width (3m) drive away awning. Our ‘No More Mud’ gravel tent and campervan pitches are finished with small pea gravel, what this means for your tent is there are no big sharp stones to make holes.
We do however recommend using an extra piece of tarp as a barrier between the gravel and your ground sheet just to make sure your built-in groundsheet is protected. We recommend the use of hard ground pegs; they are pretty much big nails and can be purchased on amazon or any camping shop – we also keep some here to purchase if you forget to bring some with you.

What can go onto The Mead?
Our Pea Gravel pitches are for Campervans, VW’s & Tents.
We may allow Caravans & Motorhomes on The Mead during our winter months, but this is only allowed during the months of November – March, we cannot allow Caravans and Motorhomes on these pitches during our High & Peak Seasons, please note your booking will be cancelled or moved.
For those looking to book during the winter months bookings must be done via the phone with reservationists as this cannot be done online.
Early Check In
New for 2025 we have added as an additional extra an “early check in” – for just £5.00 you can arrive on your pitch from 12pm, get set up and enjoy your day! T&C’s apply and more information is available on the bookings page.
Late Check Out
24hrs before you are due to depart you can enquire about a late check out on your pitch, if your pitch is available you can pay half the pitch cost and stay till 6pm.
Pitches will be available from 2pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11am on the morning of departure.
For health and safety reasons and to make sure everyone has a pleasant stay at Whitemead Forest Park, we ask that all pitches are used in line with our pitching instructions, code of conduct and terms and conditions.

Q. When can I arrive?
A. Pitches are available from 2pm on your arrival date and must be vacated by 11am on your day of departure. Early arrival and late departures may be available at certain times of year (extra charges apply).
Q. Is there a minimum stay?
A. For caravan and camping pitches can be booked on a nightly basis however there is a minimum stay policy of two nights on weekends and three nights during school holidays or on bank holiday weekends .
Q. How many people can I bring?
A. Pitches may be occupied by a maximum of six people.
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. Yes! we are pet friendly. There is no maximum per pitch, dogs are charged at £1.50 per dog, per night.
